I can totally relate Rural! I had a problem with a hawk last winter, and I was actually starting to consider having it killed - which is totally unlike me. But our domestic animals have no natural protection - it just seems so unfair when wildlife pick on them! Luckily for me the hawk moved on when I kept all my birds locked up for a few weeks.

Thank you for your dedication and support in making sure the RVN Online Forum is operating efficiently! We apologize for the delay in responding, the last 4 weeks have been really hectic and fantastic for the small RVN Team. Please note that I did try to respond twice while travelling across the Province, however the internet efficiency in the areas or my blackberry seemed to fail:). This is my second attempt to this post while hiking in the great Canadian landscape to enjoy the first snow:) and to relax a bit after 4 incredibly engaging weeks with the RVN Public Forums. The online questions were removed last week to ensure they are posted efficiently in a Public Forum Group for all people to read (registered or not). It is on our to do list for tomorrow since there are many interested parties. Also we appreciate your great recommendations about creating spaces to discuss Communication, Collaboration and Community! Sounds like you got the right attitude fer enjoyin' what's left of the mild weather. I see Ma's got a whack o' tomaters piled up out in the kitchen and I reckon I'll be cookin' up some sorta sauce before the day's over down here in the banana belt.

I reckon yer right about us treehuggin' Greens all pullin' in the same direction. I figger that's true but some are usin' different winches and maybe they're haulin' on a different path. We're all pullin' forward, though, that's the main thing.

Your characterization of Emma is right on target, but you are also right that it is unfair to make a choice without first investigating your options! Lynn Morgan brings a very different set of skills and ideas to the contest, and I think you will be equally impressed after you have spoken with her. We are fortunate to have two strong contestants in this race!

I am not very optimistic that "infrastructure funding" will actually result in any meaningful "affordable" high speed Internet for us rural types. I am still waiting.....

The problem is that the Conservatives hold the rural vote, Liberals and NDP have abandoned it and the Greens refuse to challenge for it. Therefore, they (the government) don't have to promise the rural ridings anything and especially don't have to deliver anything because.... those regions are still going to vote Conservative.

Just to let you know why interest is around 7% from your calculations. Remember that much of the money borrowed came years ago, when interest rates were higher. Since a lot of government debt is in the form of bonds, the interest rates are set and fairly inflexible. There may be ways to reduce their interest rate but it's not like they can just renegotiate their mortgage like an average person.
